Why do bad things happen to good people?
It’s a question asked by all ages and walks of life. I have come to understand the question is inherently wrong for it assumes there are some who do not encounter bad things. Yet, I’ve yet to meet a human who has not encountered devastating sorrows in their own life.
Universally, humans wrestle with this “temporary trial” called life. It’s a fleeting space in eternity. Nothing more than a mist and it is difficult for everyone.
What I also understand is that good people take bad things and can transform them into good. The miracle is that we can #flourish despite the tragedies and traumas to overcome.
The ability to take our deepest sorrows to grow, to find the lesson, and to find hope itself.
For as long as we have breath in our lungs our mission is not yet done.
That is not to say it is easy. To awake with empty arms whether it be your child, friend, or loved one feels suffocating.
To experience betrayal, rejection and neglect through no fault of your own is devastating.
To have an attack unprovoked can feel as though evil itself is winning.
Yet, love never gives up. Good people find their way to forgiveness and to love. They don’t join in on the bad. They resist the call to align with the dark and choose the light.
Jesus was the perfect embodiment of love and experienced all the worst the world had to offer. Yet, He followed the light and the love. He showed us how we can all #flourish no matter what bad happens to us.
For in this we know that love and hope always remains.
