How To Have Hard Conversations and Not Let Your Emotions Take Over

I love learning new things and nothing beats learnings from "spies". Love this article from LaRae Quy ! A few takeaways:

❓Repeat statements as a question. Those who know me know I LOVE questions and this is such an easy tactic. If someone makes a statement like "I'm so busy." You can ask "Really busy?"

🤗Speak in soothing tones. We get what we receive. Learned this the hard way over the years. ;-)

👂🏽Employ active listening. What you think you heard may not, in fact, be what you heard. Leaders know this!

📈 Gather significant data. The more data you have the easier it is to navigate the conversation.

We may enter into a difficult discussion with a colleague; they may begin to feel frustration and anger like we do. It’s a downward spiral that feeds on itself. Emotions are contagious because they spread through a network of mirror neurons, tiny parts of the brain that allow us to empathize with others and understand what they’re feeling.
